Lindsey Petherick

I help law firms, businesses and lawyers come together and find the “right fit” by using years of market expertise and a deep network to create opportunities and make meaningful connections. With over 14 years experience, I take full ownership and accountability of every search, working closely with you to craft a thoughtful “best approach” to the market. I love getting to know people and hearing peoples excitement post interview brings great reward. I stay fully engaged beyond start date, until we confirm the fit is right for both sides.

With international recruitment origins, placing Canadian lawyers into firms in London, Dubai and New York, I spearheaded high level recruitment campaigns for international firms and helped grow hundreds of businesses worldwide. At the start of the global financial crisis, I moved into the Canadian market. My experience in acquiring high performing teams, partners and associates for law firms in Calgary and Vancouver is extensive, resulting in a large, respected and fully integrated Western Canadian legal recruitment practise. I still maintain close relationships with key international clients, especially in the offshore jurisdictions of Bermuda, Cayman and the British Virgin Islands.

Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, I obtained my LLB (Hons) in England. I spent 5 years working with the BBC in London, UK before relocating to Canada in 2006 to hone my legal recruitment skills with a national recruitment firm. When not working, you can find me chasing my 3 kids around, travelling, playing guitar or drinking wine with friends. With extended family in Calgary and Vancouver, my family and I love the Western Canadian lifestyle and feel proud to call Canada home.

John Petherick

After years of being asked why we don’t go into business together… my wife and I have gone into business together! We’re excited to serve the Legal community in Western Canada, and to provide superior service to all we interact with.

With over 20 years of specialised recruitment experience, gained in leading consultancies in Canada and the UK, I am skilled in finding opportunities and guiding successful career moves. My network is well established, and includes lawyers, CEO’s, CFO’s and business leaders. As Partner at Edge Legal Recruitment, I focus on Associate recruitment in 3 key areas:

Placing Associates into law firms in Vancouver and Calgary

Helping Canadian General Counsel grow their legal teams in-house

No two candidates, and no two employers are the same. I take time to get to know people, and to understand what is important to them. I do what I say I will do, and take my commitments seriously. As a result I have always received exceptional feedback from clients, peers and employers. I work hard to exceed their expectations.

Prior to joining Edge, I led large recruitment teams in-house at a major crown corporation, and at a tier one international recruitment agency. I have been recognized for my success with a variety of President’s Club and Chairman’s Club awards. I was consistently ranked in the top 3% of recruiters globally in an organization that had in excess of 10,000 recruiters.

When not working, I am a busy father of three children. I coach youth Soccer, and am an avid (obsessed?) follower of Soccer, Rugby, Tennis, Cricket and The Olympics. We love our life in Vancouver, and feel privileged to live here.

Giving back in our communities

We believe in giving back, and are firmly committed to supporting the communities we live, work and play in. Both of our charitable partners hold a special place in our hearts.

Based in Vancouver, Pathways provides support and education to families of those suffering from a serious mental illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorders and others. Pathways work is based on family peer-support, where core activities such as the Family to Family education course, family group support and one-on-one support are provided by trained family members – people who have “been through the mill” and can share their experience.

Based in Calgary, Kids Cancer Care runs programs which are uniquely designed to meet the needs of the whole family at each stage of the cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. The foundation helps Alberta children and families by providing funding and programs in these key areas: Camp and Outreach; Research and Hospital; and Education Support and Scholarship programs.
